# Plugin Spam

 * Is there a process to validate Plugins? I have gotten plugins with secret spam
   links to Pay Day Loan sites etc. thus causing my site to be deindexed by Google.
   It takes months to recover, sometimes never does.
 * I do not download plugins from websites. I only use plugins from WordPress but
   still get spammy links and other BS code imbedded. It’s getting to the point 
   where I can’t trust any plugins and have to verify the code myself. Many not 
   so technical people can’t do this.
 * What’s the solution to this problem?

 * Can you provide an example of such a plugin in the WordPress repo? What you describe
   sounds like a compromised WordPress installation or server.
 * Many plugins do add portions to the admin page such as a widget or even optionally
   a link to the author’s site. But a plugin that does what you’ve described is 
   strictly forbidden and not allowed.
 * If you’ve found a plugin in the [WordPress repository here](http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/)
   that _does_ contain code that links to Pay Day Loan sites then please report 
   them to plugins [at] wordpress.org. That really is the best way to deal with 
   those plugins.
