[Plugin: Spam Free WordPress] White error screen?

Entered a post but did not see the expected screen. Instead a white screen with this:

Pingbacks were closed this one time to stop pingback and trackback spam. To reopen go to Settings >> Spam Free WordPress

Pingbacks and trackbacks were ON in your settings section. I have no clue what the second error is. Had to turn the plugin off so this error screen would not confuse editors. DO you have a more polite way of alerting? Doesn’t appear that settings was actually checked.
