This topic is not a support question.

Every few months someone creates an account just to bash my plugin. This is the only comment every left. I suspect it’s a comment spammer that is frustrated he cannot crack the plugin.

Not sure why the forum moderators don’t ban this person, or delete accounts with only a single comment for the account.

So we delete everyone’s account after their first post? I think there’s a slight flaw in that idea. There is nothing obvious that I can see to indicate that this user is spamming.

Please don’t abuse the modlook tag. It is used to report spam or anything else detrimental to the forum.

Don’t suggest I use modlook if you aren’t going to deal with a clear case of abusing he forum to bash without asking for support.

That comment and this thread should be deleted. Check back in about 6 months, and that account will still have only that single comment, or maybe just one more bashing another plugin without asking for help. This is not a comment forum, it is a support forum.

    No, Todd.

And if you continue to abuse modlook, I’ll block your account (which will prevent you from being able to update your plugin).

This appears to be a support question. You don’t have to answer it, but the user is clearly saying that it’s not working for him. If it’s a spammer/basher, it’s a rather nice one compared to the lot we normally see. It posted once, it said it wasn’t working. You can reply, or not, as you like, but flagging all posts you FEEL aren’t support requests with modlook is abusing the tag.

Stop it. This is the last time anyone’s going to warn you about your behavior.

Warn me? I didn’t even know about it until your mod suggested I use it. You got what you asked for. I used it as instructed so talk to your mod about suggesting people use it if that is not the case. I marked the additional comments because I wanted to make sure the person who told me to use the tag for a comment, then told me not to use it for the same comment a few hours later, read my comment about his conflicting suggestion.

Unless I’m not familiar with the English language, there is no question in this thread at all, for support or otherwise.

Anyways, for future reference, tell cubecolour not to suggest using that tag to anyone. If they want to use it they will. Otherwise he can simply moderate the comment without suggesting the use of modlook, as he should have done if needed in my case.

I don’t know why I have to explain this to you at all. It’s annoying, and ruined a perfectly good day. I’m here to help people, not argue about stupid mod stuff. It reminds me of the IRC back when Eggdrop Bots ruled channels. I stopped using the IRC because of that nonsense.

I can find one place where cubecolour asked you to use the modlook tag to inform us of spam, and THREE where you were asked not to abuse it. Four if you count mine.

modlook is meant to be used to point out spam, harassment, or other behavior that’s detrimental to the forums.

I’m sorry you don’t understand the distinction we make between outright spam and odd support questions/comments (of which we get a lot like this post). We do ask people responsibly use modlook so that moderators (who don’t actually sit and monitor each and every post) are alerted to spam we may have missed.
