RSS link triggers download in Chrome (2 posts)

I just found a small bug you can maybe consider to add as another to-do to your future tweaks list.

When you enter RSS link to your widget settings in the Back-End it appears with 'target="_blank"' attribute which (as you know) opens link in the new tab. There it triggers downloading and it is not helpful at all :) It happens just in Chrome (tested on Windows and Mac). I fixed it manually - removed <?php $new_tab; ?> variable from the plugin code, but it would be good to implement it in the future releases so I don't have to do this every time I upgrade the plugin!

Cheers mate, the plugin anyway is great! Keep up! :)

This is not a bug. This is a "feature" of Chrome + WordPress. Chrome does not display .xml files in a very human-friendly format, and you must have yours configured to trigger a download of .xml content.

On my rig, it opens the XML file in a new window as a plain-text xml file.

Firefox, IE, etc, open xml files in a human-friendly format.

I am not able to manipulate the behavior of a browser, unfortunately, and I'm not going to remove the $new_tab from the RSS icon because some people might link it to a 3rd party RSS system or have a majority of users using browsers that support XML RSS feeds properly.
