There is not a shortcode in place to do what you are asking. Though I might be able to make it where a custom field could disable it. Would something like that work for you?

I like the Author bio to auto populate when I make a post but if I have a guest post I would like to not have it show up so it does not look like I am taking credit for the article.

I don’t know if there is a solution for that other than un-checking the automatic populating and put the short code manually where I want it???

Maybe I should create a user profile for the guest post, then it would not show up, right?

That does sound like a very good way to do it!

You can go about it like this:

    Create a user.

    Then you can either :
    – make its access below what you have set “Which role to start using Social Author Bio” to be (In Social Author Bio->General)

    – or go into that users profile and set select off for Social Author Bio

Then make that user the author of your guest posts and it will never display the Social Author Bio on any of the pages that user is the author of.

Will that work for you? If so thanks for solving your own issue, I’m sure others will benefit from it!

Just remember Social Author Bio can handle as many users as you want. You might want to give regular guest authors their own bio. It’s a good incentive to encourage people to write for you. 😉

    Thanks Nick
I used this tutorial to solve my problem. I created a dummy user and I used it to write articles for which I do not want to view the credits.

Don’t you think it would be interesting to allow to hide the Social Author Bio based on categories or on each post ?
the best solution would be to add an option in each post checked by default for user who have chosen to view the Social Author Bio

I am just about finished with the next version of Social Author Bio, v3.0, and it has that built in.

It displays a checkbox on each page/post that if checked disables Social Author Bio for that page/post. So, by default it is unchecked and will display ( if method is allowed in admin settings ) but if checked it is disabled for that page/post and will not display.

Thanks for the inspiration on that one #zep101 !!

Keep your eye on http://nickpowers.info/wordpress-plugins/social-author-bio/ as I’m going to release it there first.

This is just one item on a long list of cool features that is going into the new version. Other key features include unlimited number of custom social icons (now created as a custom post type), social icons will have the ability to be sorted by the admin using drag and drop, Google+ integration (to add author picture to Google search results) and much more.

    great !!
you’re a boss, a genie of the lamp who grant wishes just after reading it 😉

I have just uploaded v2.4 which provides a check box on the edit screen which allows for disabling Social Author Bio and a post by post basis.

I have also added several other cool features. Please check it out and let me know what you guys think!
