[Plugin: SM Sticky Featured Widget] Support Events Manager (and other custom post types)

    I was looking forward to using this plugin to highlight some of the upcoming events on our Events Manager powered site in a widget area. While the option to set normal posts sticky appeared among their Visibility settings, I couldn’t find the same option for Events (EM’s custom post type).

    Could you add support for custom post types?

    For Events and Locations of Events Manager “featured” would work better than “stuck to the front page”, as events come and go and locations are also mostly listed through EM’s own pages. Or maybe this goes out of the scope of this plugin, if the intention is only to support front-page stickiness.

    “Sticky” has nothing to do with “front page stickieness” with respect to the is_front_page() function (designating the domain home page).

    The plugin was built to work with Posts and with Classified Ads from Appthemes. All “custom post types” are different, hence the name. Your custom post type has to support “sticky posts” in order to work correctly with the settings in this widget. I believe you are referencing another plugin you want this plugin to work with. IF that’s the case you need to find out if that plugin will support “sticky” in there CPT.

    Thanks, I’ll have a look into it.

    In the meanwhile we have already implemented a solution for highlighting selected posts of Events Manager in the widget area. It’s not yet very comprehensive and it would be most effective to have one less widget to maintain ourselves, so we might give that one a shot.
