    Hi WP Support,

Actually we have developed a plugin called (Image Optimizer)(https://wordpress.org/plugins/images-optimizer/). As of now we have updating the plugin with additional modules.

And also we have planned to update the plugin Name from (Image Optimizer) to (Featured Image Optimizer) and even updated the description too. Also we have updated in WordPress repository. But its raising issues for old user which are already installed the plugin in the name of Image. And also no more issues for new user who are installing this plugin as new.

For old users, when we click on the View Details its showing the another plugin which is called (Image Optimizer) (https://wordpress.org/plugins/image-optimizer/). So seems to be ‘s’ in the plugin slug varies in between these two plugins. Its working fine with ‘s'(plugin=images-optimizer) in plugin slug for new users. But not working for old users and indexing the View details link without ‘s'(plugin=image-optimizer) in plugin slug. So its perfectly indexing to another plugin with this slug(plugin=image-optimizer).

    Thanks in Advance.

I don’t think you’ll like the answer, but you can ask the Plugins team via plugins [at] wordpress.org to be sure.

The old plugin has this as a slug image-optimizer with this URL.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/image-optimizer/

The new one you mean has images-optimizer as a slug (with an “s”).

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/images-optimizer/

The slug is only one component and the 7 year old plugin got the name and slug first. Your plugin has a label of “Featured Image Optimizer” which is more descriptive so that’s really what your users should be searching for.

There’s no reason to change the old plugin. It’s a perfectly valid slug and the original author got it first.
