    Hi everyone,

    In the old version of the slideshow I customized the side arrows to be shown outside the image. In that version I can’t do it.

    When I try to place the arrows out of the slide/square they are blocked by the overflow: hidden; rule (I think).

    Can anybody give me a clue about that? Does anybody know in which .php file are the class defined? I have tryied the Slideshow.php with no success.

    Thanks for help, and congrats to the author for that awesome plug in.

    Hi Dani,

    You’re correct, it’s the overflow: hidden; that stops you from showing the buttons outside of the slideshow.

    If you want to show the buttons outside of your slideshow, you should adapt the following custom settings:

    .slideshow_container { overflow: visible !important; }

    .slideshow_container .previous { left: -50px !important; }

    .slideshow_container .next { right: -50px !important; }

    The ‘!important’ values make sure the CSS isn’t overridden by the slideshow’s functional CSS.

    Thanks for the compliment! I’m glad you like the plugin.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

    Thanks for your quick response. See what happens when I apply the custom settings:

    I’d show you the full website but still under construction…

    Any other suggestion to fix that?

    Best regards,

    Hi Dani,

    I’ve done some testing and there’s no easy way to get the desired result without having to throw around with new elements.

    I’m planning to have another look at this in a future release so I hope you’ll be able to style the buttons within the slideshow for now.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Ok Stefan,

    It’s a shame because in the first version it was possible but there were no possibility to insert more than a slideshow with different images on the same site. Now the slideshow is very cool but there’s no posibility to customize the slideshow as much as the user wants.

    Anyway, thanks for your time. Can you give me a clue about which new elements could be created in order to try it my self? Do you have already planed a new review for this plug in.

    Thanks again and best regards,
    Dani

    Hi Dani,

    I think the best shot you have is to add an element that wraps the ‘slideshow’ element. This is the first element you come accross in the ‘slideshow_container’.

    These elements are defined in ‘views/SlideshowPlugin/slideshow.php’. For the styles you could probably edit the functional stylesheet best, which is located in ‘style/SlideshowPlugin/functional.css’.

    If you’ve done that there’s still the chance that the slideshow script cannot cope with the element changes.

    The next release will probably be in about two weeks. I haven’t set a definitive date for it yet, but I’ll try to fix your issue in that release (version 2.1.0).

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Dani,

    If you download the development version from here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/slideshow-jquery-image-gallery/developers/ , you should be able to position the buttons outside of the slideshow using the last two lines of code from my first comment here.

    Goodluck!

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,

    Thanks for follow me up. I will have a look into the development version and I’ll let you know.

    I believe that now everything will be ok!

    Best regards,
    Dani
