[Plugin: Skitter Slideshow] Unclear about install instructions

I’m new to WordPress and creating websites using template and such, so excuse my ignorance. I’ve been learning very fast, but have come to a stand-still when trying to implement this plugin.

I’ve been able to upload the files using my FTP, activate them inside WordPress, and configure the Skitter settings.

I’m not sure if I did this step right, but I created a new template file called “skitter_code.php” and inserted the “<?php if ( function_exists('show_skitter') ) { show_skitter(); } ?>” into it. I’m not sure if I should have just placed it inside an existing template, but I saw this suggestion in another post.

Finally, I am stuck on exactly how to place my Skitter in the page I want it. I want it on the home page content. How exactly do I “Add a post thumb to a desired post.” What is a “post thumb”? – An inserted post thumbnail URL? Do I put specific html code in the post or page to call up the php file?

I’d really appreciate some clarification.
