For some sites it works best to have more than two posts listed side by side. For example any WordPress-based tube site could prefer to have five small thumbnails in a row with titles below them in a small font.
Site Layout Customizer can do all that when using customized CSS except for having more than two posts side by side. The current setting only allows only one or two, not any more to be listed side by side.
A suitable implementation would be to have a field in the settings to which a user can enter any positive number, and also allow "" or "0" for unlimited. In the case of a positive number, the code would simply loop creating <td>s, and when the amount is full, then restart the loop with a new <tr>, until the total amount of posts is full. The setting fo total amount of posts should also be a free form for any positive number.
In the case of an unlimited amount of posts side by side, the posts would be printed without a table. This is perfect for fluid layouts. See for example how Funnie.biz works when you resize your browser window width.
This would make creating tube site and other media-centric layouts a breeze with Site Layout Customizer.
