 * Hey guys,
 * I downloaded the newest version of wordpress today and I seem to have the following
   issue: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” when attempting
   to edit options and settings for plugins. This occurs in an installation that
   was updated, as well as an installation that was brand new, using the default
   theme.
 * I’ve seen solutions posted here and there and I’ve tried them all, verifying
   that settings on my end are what they should be (re adming privleges etc).
 * I do not have any issues accessing wp-admin using the administrator account.
   As this is a brand new installation, I have yet to remove the admin account.
 * Anyone got any ideas? This is really starting to bug me. I don’t recall ever
   having this issue before, but it’s been a while so I can’t pinpoint when it started
   to occur. I noticed it today however.
 * Any help would be appreciated.

 * Try [manually resetting your plugins](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)(
   no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one
   individually until you find the cause.
 * If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via [FTP or SFTP](https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients),
   navigate to `/wp-content/themes/` and rename the directory of your currently
   active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-
   out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).
 * If neither of those make a difference, and if you are **not** using Multisite,
   access your database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their
   control panel), go to the `wp_users` table and find the row for your `user_login`.
   Note the `ID` of this row. Now, go to the `wp_usermeta` table and find the `wp_capabilities`
   row for your `user_id` . Set the value of this row to:
 * `a:1:{s:13:"administrator";b:1;}`

 * Hey, tried manually resetting – no luck. Even deleted the plugin folder completely,
   remade it, re-downloaded the plugin (in this case it was collapsing archives)
   and when I click on options and settings, I still get the error. I do not however
   get that error with plugins such as meta-slider that add their own link to the
   dashboard.
 * I am using the default theme that comes with wordpress. No luck.
 * I have verified the above steps via putty in Mysql, still no luck.
 * Any other ideas?

 * Ok, so the problem is with only this one plugin? What is it called?

 * I’m going to do a couple other tests, but perhaps because it is untested with
   this version of wordpress..Although previously, I attempted to edit the settings
   for contact form 7 and it did the same thing… I’ll get back to you.

 * But, what is the plugin called?

 * Collapsing Archives – I should note that it was untested with a previous version
   of wordpress and worked fine

 * Ok, I recommend asking at [https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/collapsing-archives#postform](https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/collapsing-archives#postform)
   so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.
