  • Resolved abarc

    This is a very performing plugin and I’ve already installed in the development version of my blog without any problem.
    I’ve installed correctly in the production blog too but when I try to activate, the operation fails.
    The alert I receive is the following:

    Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
    Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Exception’ with message ‘Facebook needs the CURL PHP extension.’ in /srv/ Stack trace: #0 /srv/ require_once() #1 /srv/ include(‘/srv/…’) #2 /srv/ plugin_sandbox_scrape(‘seo-facebook-co…’) #3 {main} thrown in /srv/ on line 35

    I can’t understand why. could it be a different configuration of the servers? (dev and prod sites are separated).

    Hi abarc, this problem is because the curl function is not enabled on your server, and facebook class (from Facebook SDK) needs that enabled so it can fetch the information from facebook database (in this case, to get the comments)

    If you have permissions you can enable curl since it is a PHP Plugin (a pretty common and usefull one btw).

    It works as expected.
    Many thanks!

    Hi Bemcapaz,
    I’ve discovered a feature of your plugins that makes my blog incredibly viral. Many thanks for this!
    But there’s just one small thing I can’t control… I’ll try to explain it.
    I have a professional page on facebook, so I can comment my blog using my page’s profile. This create an effect both on the blog and on facebook page. So one can leverage the community activity of the other. That’s great. But when I comment the blog this way, in my facebook page I see the correct link but the picture preview is just one randomly picked from my blog page. So I comment in the blog a Pacman news and in facebook I have the Tetris picture.
    Is there a way to manage it? Or unless can we hide the picture preview by code?

    Many thanks and have a nice day
