• Hi there,

I just installed this plugin and everything went fine until I visited a post to find that it hadn’t added anything to the page. I’ve given it my app ID, secret and my admin ID as well as all other required fields and yet nothing appears.

Are there other settings within WP I should have defined? What about within my theme?

    Cheers,
    Rab

    Hi Rab,

Did you checked if the plugins are being auto added or queue in line for approval?

The plugin by default does not auto add the comment, it adds the comment to being approved by you before being added to the Post.

Anyway, you can change that option on the plugin configuration.

    Hi Bem,

Nothing is appearing at all where I’d expect the comments to appear. Normally I remove all comment functionality from my themes but even after adding it back in nothing appears.

Not sure what you mean about auto added or queued for the plugin, did you mean the comments?

    Cheers,
    Rab

    Yes, the comments.

The plugin works this way. It looks for a facebook comment, if it is found the plugin will get the comment, get the author and the Facebook URL of the author an then create a comment in the wordpress database like if it was a regular comment being added.

It could be something related to the wordpress version maybe? Which one are you using?

    Hi Bem,

I’m using 3.2.1 (latest at time of writing).

Where exactly is it looking for the comment? It isn’t currently even showing me a comment form to fill in.

    Hi Bem,

Just to clarify also, if it’s picking up the comments from FB and adding them to the WP database, does this mean it’s using WP markup to display the comments? If so I can’t wait to get this working because FB have royally screwed up their own plugin by denying us the ability to load our own stylesheet into their comments iframe and effectively ruined page designs with mismatching colours.

Actually Rab it does both things, it embeds the Facebook Comment Box and also adds it to the WordPress comment list, but in order to be able to add the comment on both places, Unfortunately, you have to use the Facebook Comment Box so the layout stays the same from the default.

Did you checked in the COMMENTS page on your admin to see if new comments are being added?

    Hi Bem,

The site is still private (we’re in pre-launch just now) so I’d be the only person who could add comments just now. The problem is that nothing is appearing, not even the FB add comment box, nothing at all.

    Cheers,
    Rab
