Provide API for use in other widget-extensions (2 posts)

I would like to see an API and explanation about how this could be used by any other widget-extension.

Please do also add support for multiple fields in one widget.

I don't know how the RTE really works - but I would like to have something like this:

    • Developer using this API just has to create a textarea with a specified css-class
    • RTE just hides this textarea and shows itself instead
    • All changes made in the RTE are immediately saved in the textarea (or on a specific function-call ... that's probably better for big texts)

Using this you would not have to create your own save-function in the backend but just use the one provided by wordpress.

I think this would also simplify the plugin - at least on the PHP-side ;)

Please drop me a mail if you need help here.

You have tried to use the wordpress-internal rte, haven't you?

Do you see any chance to change the wordpress core in that way, that this could be done using the function wp_editor()?
I tried it for ½h, but I do not have that much experience with wordpress that I think I could solve some more complex problems like that.
