I tried everything on that page. I uninstalled WP-SuperCache completely. I even tried the “last resort” option, adding it to my theme’s functions.php file.
While there have been changes made to the url, it still isn’t right. As of right now (with the “last resort” filter added), at the end of what would normally be the correct url, it’s adding “0audio/mpeg”, thus messing up the url.

Hello?
By the way, my server is not an nginx server, and my site is not hosted by WP Engine. It’s CentOS 7.

I’ve been messing with it, trying to find a way to make it work.
One thing that i realized is that the plugin attempts to duplicate the mp3 player that WordPress has built-in. So I unchecked all of the Media Location options. Now the player appears just fine on my posts.
However, the problem I originally described still haunts my feed.
http://www.loatoday.net/feed/podcast
Even with the ssp_episode_download_link filter installed, it still breaks the mp3’s URL by adding unneeded junk to it.
http://loatoday.net/mp3/2016/loa-today-6-23-2016-complete.mp3 becomes
http://loatoday.net/mp3/2016/loa-today-6-23-2016-complete.mp30audio/mpeg?ref=download with the filter in place.
Remove the filter, and http://loatoday.net/mp3/2016/loa-today-6-23-2016-complete.mp3 becomes http://www.loatoday.net/podcast-download/980/loa-today-on-youtube.mp3?ref=download.
I’d be happy if it came out as http://loatoday.net/mp3/2016/loa-today-6-23-2016-complete.mp3?ref=download instead, but that doesn’t seem to be an option.
I have this issue as well on kmbcwi.org.
Where I notice this is a problem is not with new posts that I create but with old posts that the plugin converted to podcasts.
The fix is just to go into each of my few hundred posts and delete the “0mpeg/audio” from the end of each audio file link, but it would be nice to be able to do this more quickly.
I even tried one of those search/replace WP plugins to find “0mpeg/audio” but it couldn’t find it.

Sorry. I meant to say “0audio/mpeg” above. I got it switched around.
