The Reveal IDs for WP Admin plugin used to work for me. But it doesn’t seem to work today after I’ve installed the plugin on top of WP 2.8.4. All the IDs for Posts and Pages are 0’s.
Your pointers on this are appreciated. Thanks.
I justed tested version 1.1.5 with WP 2.8.4 and it works fine on my local install.
Please try to deactivate all plugins except for the Reveal IDs for WP Admin plugin and see it the IDs are still 0 all around. 🙂

As you suggested, I have only the Reveal IDs for WP Admin plugin being activated. Pages and post are still assigned with 0 ID’s.
I do have the following message right below EDIT PAGES.
“You just installed the “Reveal IDs for WP Admin” plugin. Please save the options once to assign the new capabilities to the system!”
When I click on “save the options once” link, I was given the following error. (By the way, I am the administrator. )
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
Okay, to workaround the error “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”, I had navigated to Settings->”Reveal IDs for WP Admin Options” and clicked on Save the Changes link.
I can see the page and post id numbers Only after the above steps.

Could you help me with these two questions:
1. What could be the issue that triggers the insufficient permissions to save the changes?
2. Is there an easy way to summarize the total number of pages or post now since the page/post ID’s are random and no longer sequential like in WP 2.2.2?

1.) AFAIK this is a bug in WP 2.8.4. Please update to 2.8.6 or 2.9.1 to get rid of this issue.
2.) To see total number of pages just take a look at the admin page listing panel. On top of that listing you can see the total number of published pages => Published(xx)
Alternatively you can use this built-in version to use in a plugin/theme: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_count_posts
