[Plugin: Related Ways to Take Action] Brilliant idea but ... Performance?? (2 posts)

I'm sceptical about using scripts that query external source databases. It's a performance thing, waiting for results before loading the page can be a killer. Does this plugin do live queries or reload from a local cache? If a live query fails in 'x'ms., does it return a cached output instead?

Results are cached locally per blog post, and update only after the cache is determined to be stale. You shouldn't see more than one request to the Social Actions API per blog post per 24 hours.

If network issues or web service failures occur, the plugin will gracefully fail and display a) nothing (as if it were turned off), b) the stale cached result of the blog post, or c) the cached result of another blog post depending on the circumstance.
