plugin recommendation for site backup

I’m looking for recommendations for a good WP backup plugin that works with WordPress version 3.3.1 (the most current version). Before I recommend using something with a monthly fee (such as JetPack’s VaultPress plugin) I’d like to know if there is a free backup anyone recommends. Right now we are using Backup Scheduler version 1.1.2 by SedLex, but it seems that it is not completing the backups like it should. The first few times it worked fine, but now it is only generating and emailing some of the backups. (The blog is very picture-heavy and I wonder if it’s just too much for the plugin to handle.)
