Support » Plugin: BuddyPress Group Email Subscription » Plugin randomly disappears

  • After being available for a few weeks, the plugin randomly disappeared from the site. In the mean time there were no major updates done to the site, so a plugin conflict is not likely. Also the usual ‘elimination test’ does not bring back the plugin.

  • As an additional note: Updating evt didn’t make it work again either, so it’s also no update issue.

Thanks for the report, but what does “randomly disappears” mean? Some steps to duplicate the issue would be appreciated.

    What is “evt”?

    evt = everything, sorry.

With ‘Disappears’ I mean that the complete UI on front and in the Dashboard is invisible, but the plugin is still ‘active’ according to the Plugin panel.

If you contact me by PM I can give you a login to see what is happening.

I tried reinstalling the plugin too btw, it simply does not work after reinstalling either.

If your problem is with the subscription popup not showing up on the frontend, this could be related to this problem:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/popup-with-settings-hides-behind-the-menu-bar/

By dashboard, do you mean the WP admin dashboard’s “Settings > BP Group Email Options” page?

The developmental version of the plugin might fix some issues. Give it a shot and see if it works for you:

Yes, the menu setting is not available from the menu anymore…

And it is not only the pop up, but all output by the plugin which is invisible. (I never get to the level of the pop up since there are no options to invoke it).

Are you using multisite and did you network-activate the plugin? If so, the settings page is available at “Network Admin > Settings > BP Group Email Options”.

I’m not sure what your problem is. Enable debugging in WordPress and see if any notices related to the plugin are logged in wp-content/debug.log:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress#WP_DEBUG

You could also try completely removing the plugin and reinstalling it.

    Nope, no multi-site here…

And as I wrote before, I already tried reinstalling it.

Did you enable debugging as I mentioned above?

You’ll need to provide some steps to duplicate the issue, otherwise we do not know what to fix.

    Yes I did.

I don’t know if it helps you, but I have an ‘All in One Migration’ archive of both the previous working situation and the current non-working situation…

And as I said, I also can give you access to the site if you give me some way to send you login credentials.

What was written in the wp-content/debug.log file?

I cannot access your site because if I did this for every person that asked me to do this, this would quickly detract from my time.

You’re the only person that has experienced this problem so far. If other people experienced this issue or if you are able to to duplicate this issue consistently on a fresh install, then we can investigate this issue further.

And as I said, I also can give you access to the site if you give me some way to send you login credentials.

Please do not offer to provide logon credentials to your site.

If you want to contact the author using a different method you can discuss your request there; just not here on the forums. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Oops, forgot the response,

The file was not created so obviously no PHP error occurred.
