[Plugin: Quotes Collection] Search Feature Needed

  • When the plugin was changed to create a new page of quotes every 20 quotes, that had its advantages, but now it is more difficult to search the entire quotes database based on a keyword.

It would be helpful to add a search function that would query the entire database and return matching results.

    Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll consider the search feature for the next major update.

Bob, I thought of the very same feature. While we wait for the quote search we can create a private page that shows all quotes and search there.

Of course, this workaround does not show tags. Built-in tag suggestion for new quotes might be an overkill but I would still like to browse the tags somehow. It would be nice to see which tags have most quotes.

I certainly will agree with the suggestion to add a search capability and return quotes, authors or sources that match the input string.

Please keep in mind that the search capability is important for the Admin-interface as well. I’m currently managing about 7.000 quotes in the database, and it certainly is a lot of “Next page” action going on 🙂

It would also be good to be returned to the current position in the result set when editing. Delete a quote from pg. 243, and you’ll find yourself right back at pg. 1 after the operation is finished. (The next best thing would be a “Goto page #”.)

Apart from this little practical issue, I love the plugin. Thanks for your consideration of the search feature.
