• Hello,

I love the plugin… a lot… but I am running into issues with this causing extreme slowness on my site. I turned off all the plugins on my site and the load time was about 2.5 seconds, then I turned on just the quiz-me plugin and it jumped up to between 6.5 – 10.5 seconds.

I am wondering if you had any idea what would be causing this sluggishness or any direction at all as next steps for testing the root issue.

    Thanks!

    Josh Michael

I am sorry to here about your problems. I’m not sure why the plugin would cause such a slowing down of your site. How many quizzes do you have?
That is the only thing i can thing of at the moment.
There is a new version in the works that is a total redesign so hopefully will have less issues.

This started happening when we only had a couple dozen quizzes, but it seems to have gotten worse as we have added more videos. We don’t have a lot of money right now, but I am wondering what would it take for you to take a look at our specific issue?

    videos?
What have the videos to do with the quiz?

Sorry, I meant to say more quizzes, not videos. My fault!

We are currently revising all our form plugins and part of this is how it deals with the saved data, it has totally been rewritten, though the old code will have to exist in the new version to allow conversions. So the problem may not be an issue when this is release.
We will test this will a large amount of quizzes when the time comes.
Can you give us an Idea of the size of the quizzes,
the number & length of the questions, the number & length of options.
This will help us recreate you situation.

    DCoda,

The quizzes are generally only 1-4 questions and they are all multiple choice with a maximum of 4 answers to choose from.

    Thanks,
    Josh

So no long questions or options?
So the quizzes are not that big, there are just a lot of them?

We will test for this with the new setup before we release things.

    Regards
    DCoda.

Yeah, there is nothing really crazy about our questions and quizzes. Could the table that these are stored in be causing an issue? How are these stored in the DB?

Just trying to understand how the nuts and bolts are working.

    Thanks!

Things are going to change with the next version, but currently the data is stored in WordPress options, so yes they are stored in tables but not in their own.

    DCoda,

I have some some additional research and the majority of the slowness was due to the interaction with my theme. If anyone is reading this, I would strongly recommend this plugin!

Strange, I was thinking it was just that the plugin didn’t scale well.
Can you tell me what plugin this is, so i can narrow down the cause.

I think it mostly was my theme that was causing the issue, but also I was using the s2member plugin and hiding the quizzes from non-paid members, but everything else was visible to them. This wasn’t much of an issue in the post itself, but the blog feeds that had summaries of the post caused this issue.

Again, I think it was mostly the one file (a dynamically generated CSS file) in my theme, which I deleted; combined with the hidden s2member posts, which I ended up just letting everything come through so there are no filters on the feed of latest posts. That filter was needing to run up to 10 times for the page to load and I think that may have been causing a strain as well.

    Thanks!
