    Hi,

    If you update to the latest version of Qoate Newsletter Sign-up, it all gets a little easier.

    The only two things you need to provide in order to get it working is the form action and the email identifier. What’s your website adress? I can look them up for you.

    Then you still need to add the checkbox manually into your theme file, if you’re not using Thesis or Thematic. Just look at the installation guide, and place the given code into your ‘comments.php’ file.

    Good luck, and let me know if you still don’t get it!

    Best, Qoate.

    Hey Qoate,

    Glad to see you are updating this. I just updated the plugin and will reinstall. I found the Mail Chimp form feeds, it was not that hard.

    Thank you

    Qoate,

    Where would you put the line of PHP in your comment file if you wanted it to appear when someone was signed out? I keep getting the check box showing up after I have left a comment.

    I use the Subscribe to comments plugin and wold like to make it appear next to that checkbox.

    I really want to get this to work, it is a great way to pick up newsletter subscriptions

    Thanks Jay

    Hi Jay.

    I’ve updated the plugin again so that it adds the checkbox automatically to most themes. It should appear below the ‘Subscribe to Comments’ checkbox now.

    Enjoy, Qoate!

    Awesome Job,

    It works perfectly.

    You should add the ability to leave the newsletter checkbox checked or unchecked. I also want to figure out how to bold the text so it more closely matches the subscribe to comments line.

    This is a much needed plugin. I have searched from weeks for this. I will go back and rate as well as give a donation. Great Job!

    I have multiple lists set up in my aweber account. How does this plugin know which list to add the new subscriber too? The form action for all aweber user’s is: http://www.aweber.com/scripts/addlead.pl. So, I don’t get how this plugin knows what list to send the subscriber info to. Can you help me out?

    @jay, thanks alot, i’m glad you like! I was thinking of adding the pre-checked option. I will add that tomorrow. Btw, put the text between < strong > tags for the bold effect. 🙂

    @tmac. Let me look into aweber tomorrow. I have only tested mailchimp and ymlp and figured aweber would work the same. I’ll add some extra aweber options tomorrow! Thanks for mentioning.

    Here’s an article from aweber showing what’s required to make this work. It might help you. http://www.aweber.com/faq/questions/396/Can+I+Use+My+Own+Form%3F

    Thanks tmac, used that article for the different values so it sure helped a lot.

    I’ve just uploaded the v1.5 which supports:

    * Pre select checkbox option
    * Aweber extra options
    * Subscribe with name too (optional)

    I haven’t got the chance to test it with Aweber yet, should work but if not, let me know!

    I have just installed this. Every time I try to save “AWeber” as my email service, it defaults to Other/Advanced and my AWeber list name disappears. A small bug to iron out?

    Indeed, fixed that. It should already be working though, while the field was not visible it still submitted the value your earlier set.

    Anyway, it stays visible now 🙂 Thanks for mentioning!

    Can I move the check box up above the “submit comment” button?

    Also, has anybody got this to work with Aweber yet? It still doesn’t work for me. I know it’s possible with Aweber as maxblogpress has this feature in their subscriber magnet plugin.

    I cannot get it to work with AWeber. Not convinced it is set up correctly. Newsletter form action is set to: http://www.aweber.com/scripts/addlead.pl, and I cannot identify what I should add to the Email Identifier (name) field. My domain is marketingwizdom.com. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
