I’m quite close to give a 1 star rating and to mark this plugin as “broken”. Seriously, I’m having a horrible time while trying to set it up. Here just a few problems to start.

    1. It doesn’t look like one can upload pictures for the slider from a URL
    2. If uploading pics from library sometime it shows the pics sometimes it doesn’t. No apparent reason why. Just to clarify: sometime pictures not only do not show in the slider but also in the “promotion” setup page, under featured image.
    3. Despite only a particular category has been specified in a particular area, the slider shows all images in any category…..

A few notes about the plugin:

    1. You can provide a URL for an image via the ‘CDN Image URL’ box in the ‘Use Content Delivery Network’ section of the ‘Promotion Slider Options’ meta box on the promotion editing / creation screens.
    2. Images must be attached as featured images to appear in the slider. Images placed in the content area are only shown on the promotion page. If you are not seeing an image in the ‘Featured Image’ box, then you are not properly adding the featured images.
    3. You can define a category via the shortcode, but if there are no slides assigned to that category in the admin area then the default action is to display all slides. You must be sure to assign images to the appropriate category or make sure you properly assigned the category slug via the shortcode.

“1.You can provide a URL for an image via the ‘CDN Image URL’ box…”

Thanks for clarifying that (would be a good idea to better explain that in the instructions). However, still the plugin seems to have a mind of its own as far as displaying what one puts in there.

“2.Images must be attached as featured images to appear in the slider…If you are not seeing an image in the ‘Featured Image’ box, then you are not properly adding the featured images.”

There are not many ways to “properly” add a featured image. I’m doing the EXACT SAME PROCESS for different images. Why does the plugin chooses to show some featured images – in the ‘Featured Image’ box -and not some others?! Very frustrating.

“3.You can define a category via the shortcode, but if there are no slides assigned to that category in the admin area then the default action is to display all slides…”

Yes, that’s very clearly stated in the instructions.

“… You must be sure to assign images to the appropriate category or make sure you properly assigned the category slug via the shortcode.”

Despite images are assigned to the appropriate category still the plugin shows all images…

      Disappointing

On point number one, remote images are not put through WordPress’s standard filters so you will have to ensure that they are all of the appropriate size.

On point number two, this is default WordPress functionality that has been enabled for promotions. If the featured images aren’t assigning properly, then I am afraid that is beyond the scope of my plugin. You just have to be sure you click the ‘Use as featured image’ link and not the ‘Insert into post’ button.

I wouldn’t mind taking a look at your setup to see how you are using the category assignment. If there is something wrong with my code I would like to fix it.
