I’d like to add the ability for a preview to show up on a category pages when using the post-tags-and-categories-for-pages plugin?
Sorry for the delay in responding.
That is entirely a theme customization. You should use
the_excerptwhere appropriate in the theme.
This will never be added to the plugin.
Thanks for the response. I’m loving the plugin and it is very important for my site. Thank you for creating it.
When I click on a tag or category assigned to a page I will get the excerpt, however without image.
When I click on a tag or category assigned to a post I will get the excerpt with image.
If both a post and page have the same tag or category assigned to them, when I click on the tag or category, I will get a list of posts and pages for the tag or category with the excerpts, however only the posts with that tag or category will show an image.
So the plugin is working great except for this functionally. This can be confusing to the user if there is a category page with lots of pages and posts and only the posts display an image with the excerpt. In addition for usability and aesthetics it’s great to have an image associated with the excerpt.
I don’t think this is a theme customization issue since the plugin is to add functionality not built into WordPress (and therefore the theme) by allowing tags and categories to be assigned to pages.
I don’t think this has anything to do with the plugin. It is simply linking to the proper template file in your theme.
Can you put the code for the template file up on pastie.org and link to it. I’m happy to test it.
Which code are you looking for? the archive.php or single.php file. I’m using a premium theme so I’m not sure how the aurther feels about posting their pages…
I can ask once I make sure with him.
As an update for those finding this, the theme had different loops for posts and pages. The page loop did not call
the_post_thumbnail()so no featured image showed up.
have no idea how to use this plugin. is it a shortcode or php page mod?
It’s not a shortcode. All it does is add the default tags and categories you see on your WordPress posts, to pages. Then you can use that to add the categories and tags to your pages.
And please start a new topic instead of tacking your notes on the end of a totally unrelated thread.
