  • Hello,

Thank you for a great plugin.

I have come across the following scenario and was wondering if you might be able to consider this please.

    USA – English
    Japan – English
    Japan – Japanese

The English on the USA and Japan sites are different so need to be able to have “Locals” like the following, but the problem is the “Code” as Polylang only allows me to use 1 code 1 time.

    Local – Code
    en_US – en
    en_JA – en
    jp_JA – jp

Thank you for your time and consideration of this request.

It is impossible to have 2 languages sharing the same code since Polylang uses the code in url to differentiate languages. However, you are not forced to use en for both. For example, you can use ej or je or whatever you want for en_JA.

However, I do not recommend to modify the locale which is used by WordPress, plugins and themes languages files. If you do so, the automatic languages file download and update won’t work for WordPress and you will have to rename the files in plugins and themes when they exist.
    en_US : OK
jp_JA : does not exist, use ja instead
en_JA : does not exist as far as I know but it does not matter since you will have to create all files yourself
