Support » Plugins » [Plugin: PollDaddy Polls & Ratings] Rating template tag

  • Resolved ph23man

I’m using the template tag polldaddy_get_rating_html() to put the post rating into a custom location and that works fine.

But it seems that the plugin will still insert code above or below your post/page/comment, even if you use the template tag. The rating will appear where your custom tag like it’s supposed to, but there’s unneccessary, duplicate code added.

Perhaps there could be an option in the admin for something like “Custom Placement” in addition to the 2 existing options of above or below the post. Same for pages and comments. And choosing that would remove the auto-insertion above or below posts.

  • Even more, ph23man: template tag is not working for me. How are you using it?: <?php echo polldaddy_get_rating_html(); ?> –> Is this correct?

WP 2.9.2 and the last version of the plugin.

    Thanks in advance.

@ph23amn, that is something I need to handle. Just so I know, why can you not disable the ratings in the ratings settings and then only use the template tag… what scenario do you have where you need to use both?

@dogdayfear, that is how you use it. If this is not working for you, then can you contact support and we’ll try to help you further.

Actually when I disable the setting in admin, the template tag won’t work. If I disable the setting, the template tag doesn’t display anything. I just figured it’s supposed to work this way.

Is the template tag supposed to work without the setting?

P.S. I’m actually on WP 2.8.6, I must have clicked the wrong version. And this it’s actually WPMU, with the plugin running on the main blog only.

Hi, yes this is a bug. I am adding a fix now. The template tag should work as long as their is a rating id present in the Options sub-menu (under Polls). You shouldn’t need to have ratings enabled in the ratings settings.

Everything is working now with the new update of the plugin.

    Thanks! 😉

    Sorry, duplicate post. 🙁

Thanks for making the update, it has fixed the issue!
