    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the awesome plugin! Our site uses both PODS and PODS UI. I was wondering if PODs supports user permissions? We have a WP site that has several PODs. I’d like to add some authors and give each of them access to different PODs. Is this possible?

Great, thanks for using Pods! Yes, Pods supports user permissions in a number of ways. I recommend you upgrade to the latest version of WP and Pods, then you can manage access automatically through the Pods >> Setup >> Roles tab, or you can code that into your PHP using this:

    Hi Scott,

Thanks for the quick reply! I love PODS even more now. Here’s one quick question. Can I upgrade PODS to the latest version if I still use WP 2.8.4?

I tried to upgrade our WPMU 2.8.4 to WP 3.0.1 recently but ran into some crazy performance problems – the site slowed to a complete crawl after the upgrade and our server started totally crashing. The unix top command showed that CPU utilization was going through the roof.

So we’ll probably upgrade to WP3 at some point in the future, after we can figure out what’s causing this problem. But for now, we’re going to stay on 2.8.4.

You can try upgrading to the latest version of Pods, but definitely backup your files / db just in case. If you notice any problems, let us know. However, going forward we are targeting WP 3.1+ for Pods 2.0, though Pods 2.0 will continue to work for WP 3.0 – it just won’t have many of the new features we’re adding.

Sorry about your site performance problems, would definitely be interested to find out what they are from, should you find out.
