I am using Podpress 8.8.10.13 on WP 3.3.1.

When I try and make a post on my website, I get this message, “The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.”

I have been in contact with my host and we have determined the issue is not there. I deactivated my plugins and then tried to make a post. When I deactivated the Podpress plugin, I was able to post successfully.

What do you recommend I do to stop the error message and still use Podpress? The issue has been going on for a month.

    Thanks.

On the general settings of podPress in the section Post Editing is the option “max. number of media files:”. What is the current value? 10 or higher?
If you usually attach 1 or maybe two media files per post then you may set this value to 1 or 2 (as low as possible). This should speed up the loading process of the WP post editor page and may help in your case.

The default was set at 10. Per another issue, I changed the max number to 500 because when it was 10, all the podcasts weren’t showing up on iTunes – only 10 were.

Each podcast post only has 2 media files (the audio and the image).

For the sake of solving this problem, I changed the max number of media files to 2. And I am able to publish a post.

But will I have an issue with not all the 20+ podcasts showing up on iTunes?

    Thanks

The option “max. number of media files:” on the page podPress > General Settings – Post Editing does not influence the number of posts (or episodes) in the RSS feeds or in iTunes. It limits the number of media files which you can add with podPress per post.
If you have only posts with 1 or 2 media files then set this to 2. If you want to add maybe 3 media files with podPress to a post then increase it to 3. 10 should also be okay too. But to avoid such problems which you have encountered, it is a good idea to keep this particular number as low as necessary.

If you want to adjust the number of posts/episodes in iTunes then go to Settings > Reading (see http://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Reading_Screen) and modify the value of “Syndication feeds show the most recent … items”.

    Got it. Thank you!
