• When I saw this today I was like OMG. no way this can be free and wasnt sure how they made money. Here is how. There is an adsense ad under each pic. I embeded 2 pics and that placed 2 google ads. Since my site is in test mode, I dont have my ads in place so not sure whose google ad blocks will get blocked when google detects more than 3 ads on the page.

The adblocks they use look bad, doesnt match your site and then your adblocks wont show.

Good try Picapps, but you need to refine the google ads

  • I have to say, I really want to use this to limit searching around and copyright issues. But as of now, they haven’t gotten their implementation stable, I see some with the flash implementation without the distracting “bar of photos” across the image and others that have PHP errors or something. Check this guy’s demo blog and there are errors everywhere. http://picapppublishers.blogspot.com/2009/08/daytime-emmy-awards.html
Also, I’ve searched sites to create my own “showcase” and I see worlds of problems with flash not loading, etc. Frankly, I see fewer problems now than a few weeks ago, but there is much work to be done.

The flash implementation without the “bar of photos” is better if it can be skinned and implemented in javascript. As of now, it screams “cheesy” which is not what my readers want. For now Zemanta and Apture will have to do.
