    Actually it should work with any character set. The code php code that parses and formats the list doesn’t make any distinction about character set. Are you still having the problem? Can you post your web site URL?

    Find this code in phpbb_topics_portal_Gugs.php

    // open a phpBB connection
       if (!isset($connphpBB_b) || ($connphpBB_b === FALSE)) {
           $connphpBB_b = mysql_connect($dbhost,$dbuser,$dbpasswd,TRUE);
          $returnvar_b['connphpBB'] = $connphpBB_b;
       }

    and add one line to set the char set to UTF8

    as follows:

    // open a phpBB connection
       if (!isset($connphpBB_b) || ($connphpBB_b === FALSE)) {
          $connphpBB_b = mysql_connect($dbhost,$dbuser,$dbpasswd,TRUE);
          mysql_set_charset('utf8',$connphpBB_b);
          $returnvar_b['connphpBB'] = $connphpBB_b;
       }

    Will try to update version with this fix.

    I released a new version 1.2 which fixes this and a couple of other things I noticed.
