1st: The problem was fixed after clearing the browser cookies, I noticed that because it worked fine in private tabs. Maybe a warning about the broken options for initial setup should be added to the settings page, such as: “Please note that changing these settings will not work until browser cookies are cleared“.

2nd: plugin settings are not clear about the redirection rule, in fact such word is not even present at the Settings panel. One has to infer that the plugin will redirect pages based on browser language (again, that’s my guess at least). This may be obvious behavior for the plugin developer, but not for the user.

3rd: The option to show widget language list as “buttons” should be replaced or complemented by a real dropdown list. Currently, the “button” option is a pseudo drop down without the arrow, making it hard to realize that the page is available in other languages unless the user eventually clicks the “EN English” button to “see what happens”. A real, native-WP-themed select box (drop down) would be the fool-proof option to select languages.

Last: The plugin’s icon in the WP Admin area sidebar is black, just like the default WP menu background. It should be a transparent PNG or SVG icon to display properly.

The plugin is very nice, but these issues should be addressed ASAP to make it more reliable and user friendly.

    Thank you for the feedback.

    Regarding observation 1:

If you are using multiple languages in one WP installation the plugin uses cookies to keep track of the last language switched to set the global language and core translations accordingly.

The plugin as an option to disable Cookies if you are not interested or if it doesn’t perform well due to redirections.

    Regarding observation 2:

The redirections will target the best option for the current visitor. I can’t reproduce the issue right now so I recommend that you simply disable the use of cookies in the plugin settings.

    Regarding observation 3:

If you add the switcher in your menu or if you use the shortcode [language-switcher] in a text widget your should have a dropdown instead of a list.

    Regarding observation 4:

Good point, this will be changed in the next version.

If you have any other observations feel free to share.

    Kindly,
    Raphael
