In what way is it not working?
Is it not password protecting the site?
Is it not allowing you to login?
Please could you be a bit more specific?
I seem to be getting the same problem with a new install of 3.4.2
A page that was password protected is now on view to the public
I tried removing the password and re-creating it – it semed to work for the first time, thereafter it was back on general public view
Do you have any caching plugins enabled on your site?

Some companies like WPEngine have built in caching
I use Hostroute in the UK – I build and maintain websites and pay monthly for hosting up to 20 sites on their servers

I was not seeing a password page…now I am. Seems to be working for me now.
