As I’ve started to use this wonderful plugin more and more, I seem to be reaching a limit with it and it’s starting to get fragile. Has anyone else experienced this?

For example, my sign up form (which only has four fields) now doesn’t correctly show a default value for the one dropdown on the page, and the hidden field (post->post_title) is not even being included in the generated HTML. It was a few days ago, though!

I’ve cleared my cache, restarted the web server and verified that there’s nothing funky in the wp_participants* tables. Everything looks great. It just isn’t working like it did before and I can’t seem to get it back.

Has anyone successfully contacted the developer RECENTLY?

If the developer is no longer supporting this plugin, I may just fork a copy of his code and start a completely new branch to solve some of these problems. I’d really rather not, since this is a great plugin, but I can’t see using it in the broken state it’s in.

    Thanks,
    Bruce

I love plugins where the developers just “disappear” and don’t support their product…

    Sheesh!

    Hi Bruce,

To be fair, Roland was extremely attentive and helpful, but I don’t think he knew how popular his plugin was going to be and is unfortunately now tied up with his paid work.

Am I to understand you are now improving and adding to this plugin? I do hope so, I find it invaluable and would hate to see it lay dormant with all the present bugs.

    Good luck, Em x

    Hey Em x —

No, I’m not taking over development of this plugin. I think it serves a purpose as it is, and maybe someday work will resume on this plugin and solve some of the issues (or enhance). As I find time, I plan on taking a fork of this one and adding the features I need, and then putting it back out in the public domain. I think this is an excellent plugin, and it provides functionality that no others do. It just needs some help. 😉

    thanks,
    bruce

    Bruce,

Just curious if you forked the code and how that’s going. My main desire is the “promised” is the template forms for display output.

Peiter, the templates have been in for a couple of weeks now. Upgrade your plugin, and check out the documentation about how to use the templates: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/participants-database/other_notes/
