Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » plugin page went white with newest update

  • Resolved Castlemum

I updated the Yoast plugin and now the plugin list is blank, as is the wordpress plugin update page.

I deleted the wordpress seo plugin from file manager through cpanel, then re uploaded and unziped an older version, and still plugin pages are blank.

I get the install plugin page and deleted old version through file manager again, then uploaded plugin zip file through the “New Plugin” page.

still no plugin list page to deactivate or activate any plugins. Total white. I am running all up to date plugins and php on server. I have no clue what to do without messing up the site.

  • There could be a number of reasons for the page going blank.

Generally we can assume there will be PHP errors, so please provide those to help the developers fix this, preferably with a backtrace.

Here are some instructions on how to do this:

Oh and having WP_DEBUG turned on will not show you all errors, so please use the error logging as explained in the link.

Also: What version of PHP are you on and is the SPL extension enabled ?

I am running the latest PHP and have no clue with SPL. I don’t understand how to do the above. Am I suppose to copy/paste that onto the wp config file? I have never had to debug a program before.

Everything on my site worked, until I clicked the update wp seo by yoast, once I did that the page was refreshing and went blank. No upper nav bar, no dashboard, nothing on pages called. update-core.php, or plugins.php. All other pages come up correctly. I can’t even de activate any plugins from the plugins.php page for it is blank.

I looked on the error file on the server and see nothing with regards to this plugin. only for my “all-in-one-event-calendar”.

I added the php code from github to the proper config file and had to create my error.log file, but I am not getting anything on the error file. nothing is printing.

I don’t know what to do except maybe do a restore of a previous backup

what if I re-installed wordpress? could this plugin blasted my plugin.php or plugin_core.php files?

I need this fixed asap and need a reply please.

    thank you

@castlemum, start by just deleting the ‘wordpress-seo’ folder from ‘wp-content/plugin’ via FTP. That will probably get your site back up without a complete reinstall.

That doesn’t fix the WPSEO issue, but without any error messages it’s really difficult to figure out what’s going on.

Oh and no, WPSEO does not change any core files 😉

Well I stayed up until 3 am pacific time, and figured this whole thing out. I looked at the error log on my server and found tons of errors with a plugin called, “All-in-one-event-calendar”, when I updated this plugin (wp seo by Yoast), it conflicted with the A-I-O-E calendar. So I renamed the calendar plugin through ftp, and whalla, everything came back.

This plugin (wp seo) brought the other plugin to fruition with its own problems. I and another web design friend found the problem and got it fixed.

    Hi Castlemum,

I’m very glad to hear you found the problem.

Do I understand correctly that you fixed All-in-One-Event Calender ? or did deactivating it fix it and you didn’t do anything to the code ?
