Plugin or function to show few blog’s posts in a row

Hi all,
could anyone please tell me how are called those elements I’ve put in evidence with the red arrows.

I don’t think are called neighter slideshow, or carousel, so I don’t know if and what kind of plugins I should look for. I neighter think are called thumbnails……this just to say how lost I am.

I need to show on the homepage below a larger slider 2 coloums of blog’s posts preview that I’ve to set up from the backend.
