[Plugin: Online Backup for WordPress] Safe_mode errors for temporary path

  • Hi there,

just installed your plugin on my WordPress 3.2.1 instance. I’m getting the following error at the top of the page:

Warning: realpath() [function.realpath]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid/gid is 33/53088 is not allowed to access /tmp owned by uid/gid 0/0 in /webspace/10/53088/<removed>/wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup/wponlinebackup.php on line 907

A similar message occurs in the General Settings screen for the “wordpress not in root” option:

Backup the parent directory as well as the WordPress directory: Failed to determine the path: 2: realpath() [function.realpath]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid/gid is 33/53088 is not allowed to access /webspace/10/53088 owned by uid/gid 0/0

This same error is also found in the activity log when performing a backup.

Any advice? Hosting is provided by United Domains in Germany.

    Hi laga,

Login in to your web host and create a folder called “backup_temp” somewhere (preferably not in public_html if you have a public_html folder.)

You’ll now need the path to this folder. In the error it says /webspace/10/53088/<removed>/wp-content/plugins/wponlinebackup.
Let’s assume that <removed> is public_html. If you created the backup_temp folder underneath there it will be /webspace/10/53088/backup_temp/.

Once you have the path, go to the plugin General Settings, then in your address bar, at the end of the URL where it says “section=settings”, change this to “section=advanced”, then hit enter.

Should load the advanced settings. Then next to gzip_tmp_dir, click the checkbox, and change the value to the path of backup_temp and then click Save Settings.

Let us know if this works.

    Jason.

    Hi laga,

Just so you know these errors will be fixed in the next version and this setting most likely won’t be needed anymore.

    Jason.
