    Hi smartxueql,

Please can you upgrade to 2.2.9 and let me know if the issue is fixed?
There was an issue with a database patch in 2.2.7/2.2.8.

    Thanks,

    Jason

For me, it is still not working after upgradig to 2.2.9
I have tried on 2 of my websites.

    Thanks in advance,
    Fran

    Hi Fran,

What is the error you are getting, is it the same error?

    Jason.

Yes Jason, I have exactly the same error as smartxueqi. I’ve had that since version 2.2.7
+ another error as far as I am concerned:
Failed to retrieve rows in table 'eba_wfFileMods' using MySQL client: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '??PE?' ORDER BYfilenameMD5ASC LIMIT 200' at line 1. The table may only be partially backed up.

And I wouldn’t know what to do about this last advice. Too advanced for me…

    Hi guys,

Can you deactivate and activate and try again? See if it goes away?
If you’ve reinstalled and still get the error let me know but don’t do it again is like to fix this.
I’ll get something sorted today (test version or other update)

    Thanks,

    Jason

    Hi guys,

Can you remove the 2.2.9 you have and try this one. When you remove the existing plugin you’ll lose your setting so make sure you remember encryption keys etc.
    https://wordpress.backup-technology.com/wponlinebackup-402.zip

It will fix the Failed to retrieve rows error fran330 has. And it will change the error message for the internal error slightly so it gives a bit more information.

At the moment I’m thinking that this issue is not directly caused by 2.2.9. But that the issue has been present in previous versions but didn’t stop the backup with an error like it should have done. But now it does. With hope the above version will give all the information we need to fix the problem. If not, I can get another version to you to get more information.

    Regards,

    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I’ve just uninstalled, then reinstalled the test version you gave us here. I just tried to run the backup.
My second error is not there anymore but the first one (the one that others have too it seems) is still there : back up failed.

Here is my full event log so you can have a better idea. (You’ll see that I also get warnings but I’ve alwyas got warnings, even before version 2.2.7 I think I read somewhere that they don’t matter much…)

P.S. The warnings seem to concern the plugin WP Statistics. It’s a plugin that never worked for me but it’s impossible to remove. Anyway it’s desactivated.

    Hi fran,

Seems to be due to an odd character in the filename. Which explains why I cannot reproduce it here since our servers are all English users so no accented characters etc.

Could you find that file and possibly get a URL for it so I can test with it?
I will check how MySQL and the plugin is handing different characters sets and see if there is some conversion happening which is causing this problem.

    Regards,

    Jason

I am willing but what file are you refering to ?

    Plugin Author Online Backup

    (@driskell)

    le jour Li?ge 2006_33pc.jpg

That’s the file that appears to be causing us some character set / collation storage issues with MySQL.

The question mark is the problematic bit. So if you need to search it should work to use say:

    2006_33pc.jpg

    Or:

    le jour Li

The question mark will be some special character.

I see. I’ll try to find this and if I find, I’d change the file name. Might take a bit of time but I’ll try to come back to you before tomorrow.

    Thanks for your care,
    Fran

Hurray ! I found the file and removed it (was an old unused file). Then I ran the backup again and it’s working πŸ™‚
Now I’ll download your last test version to my other websites and see if it works. It should I guess.
Anyway, I’ll let you know, just to make sure.

    Thanks again, Jason,
    Fran

Done. I had 4 WP websites to deal with.
For 2 of them it worked perfectly with your last test version (just a few warnings left but I think it doesn’t matter)

For the 2 other websites, the backup was done but “partial”. Each of them shows 14 errors. In fact it’s each time the same error. Maybe it doesn’t matter much, I don’t know. Will you tell me ?

On site #1, the errors are:
19th oct 2012 7.12.22 Error File /homez.133/lascolan/www/wp-content/plugins/image-widget/lang/Image_Widget-ja.mo was skipped: An error happened at: stream_delta.php(442)
filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for /homez.133/lascolan/www/wp-content/plugins/image-widget/lang/Image_Widget-ja.mo

This error concernes some .mo file. The 13 other errors are exactly the same except that it concerns each language file.

On site #2, the errors are:
19th oct 2012 4.38.19 Error File /homez.9/ajwan/www/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/image-widget/lang/Image_Widget-ja.mo was skipped: An error happened at: all-in-one-favicon.php(37)
Use of undefined constant AIOFAVICON_TEXTDOMAIN – assumed ‘AIOFAVICON_TEXTDOMAIN’

Here too, the 13 other errors are the same except they concern each language file.

What is sure is that I didn’t get those errors until version 2.2.6 and I havn’t added any plugin since.

    Should I worry ?

    Fran
