    Hi,

I’ve been using this plugin successfully for quite some time, and it has suddenly stopped working. I’m not sure exactly when, as I haven’t been monitoring my website actively recently, but it was working 100% up until fairly recently. Nothing had changed on my end that I’m aware of.

Previous to the steps I took below, it looked like it was loading information such as subscription numbers, views, logo and channel name successfully, but was just displaying “Loading…” where the videos should have been.

API credentials have been in place forever, and working successfully.

I tried clearing browser and plugin cache, to no avail.

Pursuant to a suggestion on another support thread, I tried deleting my channel info and creating a new one, and encountered further errors.

Previously I had both my Username and Channel ID/URL fields populated without issue. Now, whichever I put in, it tells me “Your inputs are invalid. Please have a look at them.” To be clear, this is whether one or the other is populated. It will no longer allow me to populate both.

Furthermore, if I click the CHECK button, it returns “The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.”

API input does not seem to return errors. Just the channel info.

Any idea what’s going on? I’d really like to get this plugin up and running again.

    Thanks!

The YourChannel strip is located midway down the home page, but is currently nonfunctional as I have been unable to recreate my channel.

Hi, did you create your own API Key at Google by following instructions here: https://plugin.builders/yourchannel-setup/ ?

Create a key and then try again. Enter your channel id & click on Check button.

As stated above, yes, a Google API has been created and in place for years, and the plugin worked as expected up until recently. I did check to verify the API and nothing has changed.

Also, whether I put in my username, channel id, or url, it returns “Your inputs are invalid. Please have a look at them.” If I click the CHECK button, it returns “The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.”

The word “Quota” links to a page on our site that doesn’t exist: https://wilmingtonguitar.org/youtube/v3/getting-started#quota

The quota exceeded error is because the key you’re using has crossed its quotas, the Check button would’ve worked otherwise. Try with our key: AIzaSyCtCVDkGaoIu7wcr-QCuM0vPdNIZNKlqCs

Thanks! Your key works. Any idea how to get mine to work?

My Google API is listed as “unrestricted.” Google gives the warning: “This key is unrestricted. Restrictions help prevent unauthorized use and quota theft.” So that’s probably what happened.

I tried regenerating the key, but it returns the exceeded quota message. Waited 5 minutes for all changed to take effect and still no joy.

I tried creating a new key, but it still returns the exceeded quota message.

My guess is someone is using my API without authorization and stealing my quota. Not sure how they would have gotten my API though. That’s concerning. I will restrict my API and I’m guessing that I will need to wait a day or two before trying my key again from this account, or create a key from a different account and try that. I’ll go with the second option and see if that works.

I created a completely new API from a different account and it is still returning the exceeded quota error message when hitting the check button. It initially seemed to work, and populated the preview, but after saving it continues to throw the error and return the “Loading…” message where the shortcode is telling it to display. I tried the “Clear Cache” button but no effect.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help!

Can confirm it will still work with your API, but not with my new API from a different account (the only one there), or with the old API I had used successfully previously.

Is your new key the one that ends with OIWw? Just making sure the old key is not lingering around in cache.

I can’t say what’s going on. Wait for 24 hours then your quotas will reset, then try again. Use our key until then.

Thanks. Yes, that’s the new key.

Sounds good. I’ll use your API and recheck tomorrow.
