Support » Plugin: WordPress Backup to Dropbox » Plugin not obeying Excluded Files and Directories selection

I installed this plugin, proceeded to WPBD2D -> Backup Settings and under Excluded Files and Directories clicked the Exclude None button. I then deselected a few folders, specifically a cache folder (wp-content/cache/) that I knew had 150mb+ of stuff that I didn’t need to backup. I then went to WPBD2D -> Backup Log and started a manual backup.

When the backup seemed to take longer than I expected, I started checking which files were being backed up by clicking View uploaded files and I discovered that the cache folder that I had deselected was actually being uploaded.

Is there a bug with the Excluded Files and Directory feature?

  • Scratch that. I just realized that I was assuming the Excluded Files and Directories selection box was asking me to uncheck any files/directories that I don’t want backed up (this is the behavior in most applications, including all backup programs that I’ve come across). I see now that a checkmark next to a file/folder actually means that file/folder won’t get backed up.

I suggest changing this behavior, as it’s not very intuitive.
