    Hi Sybrew,

    Just a quick question.

I am currently using the Yoast SEO plugin and used the SEO migrator tool to bring my data per to your SEO framework plugin.

Whislt it brought pretty much everything over, i was a little surprised that it did not bring over my dynamically crafted titles and meta descriptions for my pages, categories, tags and posts.

Is this available in the plugin as I had to uninstall the plugin as it would have created massive problems for the website which has 1000’s of pages, tags and posts.

Have I overlooked a setting to get this enabled ?

Image showing the functionality in question is https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/37814137/51583455-8e3a7900-1ec8-11e9-8fc0-e4f98c7f15e9.jpg

If your plugin is not able to do this, is it possible to programmatically do this as your plugin is markedly heads above the other plugin but this little bit is a deal breaker and more importantly a website reader for me.

PS- thanks for creating a clean, no nonsense plugin with no advertising or ‘ education screens ”

    Hi Sarah,

I’ve replied to your issue on GitHub.

To summarize, I’m afraid you’ll have to stick to your current solutions or find a pragmatic way to search and replace the variables you’ve used.

The custom replacement won’t be an easy task, and I’m sad to say you fell victim to a vendor lock-in; not all plugins are meant to be true plugins which you can decouple whenever you wish without repercussions.

Such philosophical burdens are what I struggle with building TSF every day, which many other developers, unfortunately, dismiss gracelessly. It is why it’s easier to switch from TSF to something else than vice versa.

Luckily, WordPress is slowly taking a stand in this; for example, with the new Block editor: a standard way to dynamically create HTML. This new editor steers content-building software developers away from building a shortcode-related lock-in.

I’m sorry to lay bad news upon you. Nevertheless, I will take this with me when creating a custom transporter plugin, which converts the data as it’s migrating.

Hopefully when you get a transporter plugin flexed out – Ill give it a whirl, Whilst I am not currently using it, you have created a great plugin and I am now in the unenviable position of using a competing product not by choice but under ‘ restriction ‘ as you said.

    thanks for your responses
