Hi, since updating my website, this plugin is no longer working with my website.
    Is anyone else having issues?
I am currently running WordPress 5.8.2 & PHP 7.4 and autoremove attachments 1.2.1

The plugin that I’m using to add content is:
Wordpress User Front End (Wpuf) 3.5.25
Wordpress User Front End Pro (Wpuf) 3.4.8

    Thanks!

    Hello!

The plugin only removes images attached as child attachments to a post, page, or custom post type. It doesn’t matter if the pictures are uploaded via the admin dashboard or using a third-party plugin on the frontend. If the plugin you use doesn’t create a parent-child relationship, your images won’t be removed automatically.

To check if your images are uploaded as child attachments, go to Media and switch to List View. If in the column “Uploaded to” you have “Unattached”, your images have no parent and they won’t be removed automatically.

In addition to that, if you reuse your pictures between posts, they won’t be removed, even if they have a parent and you delete that parent. (to prevent 404 errors)

    Hi Eusebiu Oprinoiu,
I have checked and confirmed that my photos are uploaded as child attachments.
This has only been a recent issues since updating to a newer version of WordPress 5.8.2
Prior to this update, your plugin was working correctly.
It seems to be a compatibility issue.

    Hello!

I did a lot of testing, with multiple versions of WordPress and versions of PHP, but I can’t reproduce your issue. I also tested the plugin against WP User Frontend to see if there were any conflicts, but everything works as it should.

How are you removing your posts? Do you remove them by hand or using a third-party plugin or script? Do you remove them from Trash? A soft delete that places your posts in Trash will not trigger the removal of your attachments. (you need to clean your Trash for that to happen)

My plugin uses only native WordPress functions. If you are using a third-party plugin or script for the cleanup of old or unwanted posts, make sure it’s one that uses proper WordPress delete functions instead of running direct delete MySQL queries. Running direct MySQL queries bypasses all WordPress hooks, which breaks all integrations, not only for Autoremove Attachments but for all other plugins as well.

Also, are you reusing the images in any way? Maybe inside other posts or pages, or as featured images, or product galleries in WooCommerce? Because if you do, the images are not removed if the plugin detects they are used in other places. (to prevent 404 errors)
It only changes the parent to a different post.

Apologies, it appears as though I did not delete the old posts from the trash.
    Thank you for your assistance!!
