Robographer, your fix seems to be right. Have you found any problems elsewhere with WP 3.1 after replacing jquery with the older version?
If there are no other complications, this is a great short-term relief – thanks for that!
I checked the complete site and everything seems to work as it should be… so complications (until now…)
Have 20+ sites running nextgen – all working. Until… 1.7.4 – pages > whatever page > add nextgen gallery button > select or enter gallery [script hangs there]
– Tried FF, IE, Safari, Chrome, Opera – same result.
– If you get message: Check plugin/theme conflict – RED crosses anywhere – it won’t work
– Have done: multiple re-installs of wordpress, Cpanel a/c’s (deleted and re-installed – I have reliable, tech-savvy host with many other WP sites running)
– Tried WP 3.1, 3.05, 3.04 – all with varying combinations.
– Tried old JS
– Sites running with Thesis theme (preferred framework) or standard WP theme 2010.
We love this plugin, as do our clients, but it won’t work now. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Robographer (and others interested):
Just upgraded WP 3.0.5 (which I had downgraded yesterday) into 3.1 and replaced the upgraded jquery folder with WP 3.0.5’s older jquery.
This did not work, at least when trying to load a whole photogallery, the photos stopped loading after two shown as had happened already with WP 3.1.
I downgraded back to WP 3.0.5 (which is actually quite easy if you happen to have e.g. FileZilla ftp-program available)and works fine again. So I’ll stick to WP 3.0.5 and NGG 1.7.4 as long as there is a real fix for WP 3.1.
Maybe it is also depending on the theme you use… Just the jquery worked for me and maybe with another theme people need to downgrade… at least they have some options now to get this thing on the road again.

as well so I added
Options All -Indexes
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php
AddHandler x-mapp-php5 .php
to my .htaccess file and now NGG 1.7.4 + WP 3.1 is working fine.

I got a big problem with WP 3.1 + NG 1.7.4 : I can’t create thumbnails anymore : the thickbox opens, the red progressbar goes to 100%, the red progressbar fades out, but the thickboxdoesn’t auto-close, and the thumb image is not added to the “htumb” folder.
I tried to downgrade the jquery version, as robographer sugested, but the issue still remains.
I also get an error when I try to edit the thumbnail : I get the message

Still can’t get this plugin to work (on multiple installations):
– runnign standard WP theme
– version 1.7.4
– WP: 3.05
It’s a nightmare – any suggestions for alternative photo galleries for WP?
PS – we have got ONE configuration to work:
– NGG ver 1.4.3
– WP 3.05
That’s with no other plugins and standard theme. Haven’t tried adding other plugins as yet or theme change.
Ok seem to be seeing a pattern:
– some older sites that we have already have a few galleries created, seem to work (running 3.05, ngg 1.7.4)
It seems to be on new installs? (confusing)
Dunno if Alex reads this but if you do Alex: are you to take a look? Our clients like this gallery plugin.
