  • Hi everybody!

I’m developing an italian/russian website using wpml.

I’m using NGG in the picture page and I’ve created several galleries with title and description in russian.

After I’ve uploaded the pictures and let all the processing finish, I see that the thumbnails are broken (with the icon in the browser when an image is missing). You can see the problem on this page.

When I set up an italian gallery with all the text in italian, everything is fine. If I change the gallery’s title from russian to italian, thumbnails show up with no problem.

I’m guessing that the cyrillic fonts create some problems with the thumbnail generation.

How can I solve this? I’m not super technical, but I can give you much more info should you need them.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Looks like I’ve already found the real problem.

When creating the gallery, by using a russian name NGG doesn’t create the gallery subfolder in the “gallery” folder, so of course there are no thumbnails, that’s because there is no picture uploaded (but now I wonder where are the pictures that I’ve previously uploaded in that gallery)

So a solution would be to name the gallery in with english/italian letters so it creates the folder and uploads pictures correctly, then rename the gallery in russian.

Since I duplicated the galleries that were already created with italian text and replaced it with russian text, I just pointed the folder setting to the italian gallery folder, so it took the picture from there and everything went fine.

But I’m curious: why can’t the plugin create folders with russian letters in it? It’s because of wordpress? Some metas in the header of the html not present? It’s interesting…
