Support » Plugin: WordPress Gallery Plugin - NextGEN Gallery » [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] SEO friendly image URLs

  • Hi folks,

I notice that there is a link within the latest version of the NextGen plugin that says, “Create new URL friendly image slugs”, and that after button it says, “Currently not used, prepare database for upcoming version”. Is making them URL friendly the same as making them SEO friendly? If so, is there any indication of when this is likely to be made active?

I just started using NextGen and have uploaded quite a lot of photos today. I kept the image names as what they were on my SD card (IMG_5678, etc.) as this meant I could upload them to their galleries in the right order (i.e. by date and time). I then updates the filenames within ‘Manage Gallery’. I assumed this would then be reflected in the images’ URLs, but alas this was not to be the case. Is there anything I can do at this stage, or must I do the uploads all over again?

    Thanks!

    Robin

  • Just to add to what I said: there’s a wonderful little plugin called Slug4apig that lets one change one’s image slug for photos uploaded to WP’s regular media library. If I could insert some code into NextGen somewhere that does the same, that would be perfect!
