[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] not allowing multiple columns for gallery

The gallery is posted on my sidebar and it won’t allow to me add more than one column. Under the “options” section, under “gallery settings” (next to the “number of columns”) i typed in 2 (thinking there would be two columns)..only one came up.

Also, i was wondering if there is a way i can limit the number of thumbnail pictures show on my my sidebar, but when you click on them (and the larger screen comes up) i was able to show all the pictures in that gallery. For instance, if only 4 pictures were showing on my sidebar, but when you click on one of the pictures, the you could scroll through the 10 pictures from that gallery.
