• I installed NextGen plug-in today.

    I have two questions.

#1. The ImageBrowser is the default view and the effect is not default. When the average user sees a gallery of thumbnails, known as the ImageBrowser they can click on one of the thumbnails and it takes them to the selected image. My question is, how does the user navigate back to the ImageBrowser gallery of thumbnails?

For example: The average user navigates to this page with the ImageBrowser?

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloudy/

They click on a thumbnail and they are taken to this view of the image:

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloudy/?pid=39

How does the average user navigate back to the page with the ImageBrowser thumbnails if they wish to browse through the thumbnails again? There is no navigation option except for next or previous image on that page and the others.

#2. Is it possible to “switch off” the popup floating image when one clicks on the image on a typical page such as this one?…

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloudy/?pid=39

    Many thanks in advance

    John

  • 1. They’d have to use the browser back button. I believe many don’t use imagebrowser so it’s not an issue of high priority for the plugin author.

    2. Go to Options > Effects and choose None for JavaScript Thumbnail effect.

Thank you Joseph. Your reply is very prompt and clear.

Just realised that I deleted the galleries during a clean up of this test site this afternoon.

Regarding question 1: Anyway, for others, imagine that an average user reaches this ImageBrowser thumbnail page:

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloud/

and they click on a thumbnail and arrive at this page:

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloud/?pid=90

How do they navigate back to the ImageBrowser thumbnail page without resorting to the back button on the browser or a menu driven solution? I wish there was a link to the ImageBrowser in the same area as the “ngg-imagebrowser-nav” elements that include the previous and next links.

Regarding question 2: Joseph, clicking on the image at:

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/cloud/?pid=90

will still take you directly to the image itself at this url,

    http://richwp.larkin.net.au/wp-content/gallery/cloud/cloud001.jpg

even in the Effects are switched to none. I would like to end the embedded href in the displayed image altogether. It is a nuisance with mobile devices for many users.

My coding is not up to par and I have explored the files in the plug-in and located the relevant files but I am not up to the task, particularly with a generic link back to the ImageBrowser.

    Cheers

    John
