# [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Installing GD library

    I upgraded to the latest version of Next-gen and i am prompted to install
   GD library. this is the message i get.
 * You do not have the GD Library installed. This class requires the GD library 
   to function properly. visit [http://us2.php.net/manual/en/ref.image.php](http://us2.php.net/manual/en/ref.image.php)
   for more information
 * Can you please give direction on how to do this.

 * You can double check for the GD library on your server by uploading a phpinfo.
   php file:
 * [http://www.webhostinghub.com/support/website/how-to/viewing-php-settings-with-phpinfo-page](http://www.webhostinghub.com/support/website/how-to/viewing-php-settings-with-phpinfo-page)
 * Once you have installed and can view your phpinfo.php file, look for GD Support
   and see if it’s enabled or not for your site.
 * If the GD library is not enabled, tou’ll want to contact your web host regarding
   enabling the GD library for PHP.
