Support » Fixing WordPress » [Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Incompatibility with WordPress Multilingual

  • Hello,
I encountered a severe issue today when uploading new images in a newly created NextGen Gallery, and I think the problem is due to an incompatibility between the recently installed plugin WPML (WordPress Multilingual used to translate my site in English) and NextGen (the essential gallery manager).
Description of the problem: Uploading images into NextGen results in cryptic characters and no image rendering.
A test with WP Media was successful, and the image came up without problems.
I have also found an issue between Ultimate TinyMCE and WPML, and I deactivated Ultimate TinyMCE.I will report the problem with WPML and Ultimate TinyMCE.

I am hoping you’d be able to provide a fix as soon as possible.
    Thanks for helping,

  • I think problems are solved.
    1. Josh Lobe, the developer of Ultimate TinyMCE help me fixing the issue I had with the editor: there was a conflict between the WPML String Translation add-on and Ultimate TinyMCE.
    2. As for NextGen Gallery, I deactivated the WPML Media add-on and it fixed the problem, so, there seems to have a conflict between the two.

Thanks Marcel. Seeing how both your issues are related to WPML, I’ll look into this when I get a spare moment.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.

    Hello Josh,
The WPML Media which conflicts with NextGen Gallery is an important add-on to WPML making possible for example to duplicate the featured images into the translated page automatically. At the moment, and since the WPML Translation Editor does not provide control over the featured image, I can’t automatically nor manually transfer it to the other page. So, a solution to the conflict would be much appreciated.
