[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] Images disappear when I post

Bear with me because I’m not a tech, so I may not get all the terms correct. That said, here’s the deal:

Let’s say I’m creating a post on WordPress and I insert a NexGen image. I save a draft, then go to the preview to see how things look. They look fine. The image is where it ought to be, and it enlarges when I click on it.

Now let’s say I’m finished creating my post, and instead of saving to draft I finally hit the “Publish” button. Then I go to view my page and guess what? No image. Just a white placeholder tab. Fortunately, the placeholder is active, so when I click on it a full-size image appears. But white placeholders aren’t a very attractive alternative to the images that should be there.

I started having this problem after I uploaded the most recent version of NexGen. Even before that, with the previous version, I was having issues with the menu and button for adding images to my posts, and I was having to enter the code manually. However, I at least had a workaround. With this latest development, I just don’t know what to do. All the NexGen images have been stripped from my pages and replaced with those ugly white placeholders.
