Found the solution. Basically it was a conflict of the NextGEN Gallery & Simple Facebook Connect plugins. When SFC Like Button is activated, Galleries won’t show up if shortcode [album] is used. Commenting out two lines in nggfunctions.php did the job. The whole story is in this post.

I think I can mark it as Resolved.

I *had* the same problem (clicking on an album opens a new page and displays blank content) and found this thread. I have sharing plugins installed, but none are activated. I tried Alex’s work-around anyway, but it did not resolve. That indicated to me another plugin was likely the culprit. I’m using a child theme for Base 1.2.4 by Graph Paper Press. As I search through my plugin list I noticed that the GPP Slideshow plugin was active. Since NGG is my gallery/album slideshow viewer of choice, I safely deactivated and the problem was solved. Just thought I’d mention this in case it can further lead to a one-size-fits-all fix, since it’s apparent other plugins can cause similarly conflicting and undesirable results.
